The 33rd China Guardian Quarterly Auctions is soon to kick off. It will present more than 5000 lots, including Chinese paintings, porcelain, artworks, furniture, Chinese oil paintings, sculpture, rare books, rubbings, manuscripts, jade, and jewelry. The auction will be held at the Beijing International Hotel Convention Center. The preview will be held from March 20 to March 22, and the auction will be conducted from March 23-25.

A comprehensive coverage of oil paintings, Chinese paintings, sculptures, printmaking, photography, mixed materials, sketches, watercolors and other works will be unveiled. The art pieces will be viewed by domestic and international collectors.

Chinese paintings will be divided into 11 sections, including a Republic of China section, modern section and contemporary section. Traditional Chinese paintings have always been a special characteristic of the Guardian Quarterly auction. China Guardian collects paintings of famous painters such as Xie Kun and Zhang Daqian.

In the Republic of China section, China Guardian has introduced 125 pieces of epistolary works. Most are written by famous politicians, such as Feng Yuxiang, Yang Hucheng, Zhang Zhizhong, and Cai Yuanpei. There is also a section for brushwork paintings, including paintings from followers of Master Li Keran. “Plum Blossom and a Pair of Sparrows” by Jiang Hongwei is the most noteworthy piece.

The modern section includes the works of Xu Beihong, Zhang Daqian, Huang Binhong, Wu Guanzhong and other famous artists. The contemporary section includes the works of Jiang Hongwei.

More than 2000 porcelain and furniture pieces will also be auctioned at the event and divided into 6 sections. A collection of seals owned by Lan Yusong and cloisonné enamels offered by a private collector from Taiwan will be showcased. Two cabinets from the Qing Dynasty which embody the lacquer skills of the imperial court will be available. A private collector from Tianjin has also contributed a series of marble screens from the late Qing Dynasty.

The furniture session will feature Qing-style raw pear wood pieces, royal-style red sand wood furniture, and a cupboard made of Huanghuali wood from the late Qing Dynasty. More than 70 pieces will be auctioned in the classical furniture session.

In artworks section, China Guardian has collected several imperial robes dating from the Shunzhi period to the Qianlong period. All are of high-standard material.

There will be more than 790 lots of rare books available, coming from collectors such as Zhen Yimei and Wen of Gusu. China Guardian has also selected 10 volumes from the Qing Dynasty period’s“School Poetry Manuscripts Used by Children” and one volume of the“Poetry on Plum blossom”.

China Guardian will also present more than one hundred rubbings at the spring auction, such as the wood blocks of Li Hua, Gu Yuan and Huang Yongyu.
