On May 18, China Guardian held a Stamps and Covers, Banknote and coins auction which achieved a turnover of 77.7 million yuan. The previous painting, porcelain, contemporary artworks, rare books, jewelry and watches auction, brought in a total of 2.571 billion yuan. China Guardian successfully accomplished its spring auctions with a turnover of RMB 2.648 billion. Twenty years ago, on the same day, China Guardian was founded. This spring auction was a great success and a special gift for China Guardian's own 20th birthday.

During this auction, China Guardian launched for the first time a special section. All the lots of this section were gathered from foreign collectors, including letters, manuscripts and signed photos of Napoleon, Theodore Roosevelt, Eisenhower, Mike Arthur, Einstein, Audrey Hepburn, Walt Disney and other celebrities. All twenty-two lots of this section were sold out. The letter written by Napoleon to his adopted son was sold for just over 3 million yuan, 50 times the estimated price.

Napoleon's two-page letter to his adopted son was written on Feb. 16th, 1806 in French. Napoleon was crowned as the king of Italy on May 26th, 1805. In this letter, he instructed his son to pay the Italian army with the taxes the country had collected. He listed in detail on the first page the amount of money need to be settled of each district and elaborated that he wanted to expand the army and organize a fleet. There is a well-persevered full-name signature by Napoleon himself on the second page which is very rare.
