China Guardian will launch a session dedicated to watches in the 2010 Autumn Auction. With strong support from senior collectors from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Asia, China Guardian has solicited many rare pieces which are hard to find in the market. In particular, Patek Philippe is reputed as a blue chip brand in the watch market. For this auction, we have Wristwatch Ref. 5013. Completed in 1992, it is in the wine-barrel shape, contains 515 components, and has the functions of Minute Repeater, Perpetual Calendar, Moon Phase Display and Retrograde Date. It is the wristwatch with the second most complicated functions produced by Patek Philippe apart from Sky Moon Tourbillon. This watch factory only made a small quantity of wristwatches with minute repeaters in early 1900s, and terminated this production at the end of 1950 until 1989 when Patek Philippe restarted the production of such watches to celebrate its 150th anniversary. The factory exercised creativity by injecting automatic movement into Ref. 5013 with the review function. The one for auction this time is a red-gold black dial wristwatch. Estimate on request.

Another Patek Philippe classic example is Ref. 5102PR. With functions different from ordinary wristwatches, this watch was designed with the idea in accordance with the astronomical track with a view to observing the astrology and moon phases. With a five-continent pattern inlayed with diamond and yellow sapphire, four time zone display and an 18K yellow gold watchcase, it is very exquisite and glamorous, deserving more attention from collectors.
