This Autumn, our ‘Important Jewels and Jadeite’ sale will bring to the market a careful selection of dazzling pieces. We are particularly honoured to be entrusted by an important Asian collector to present a pair of superb jadeite bangles as well as an extremely rare jadeite cabochon necklace suite, both preserved in an important Asian private collection for many years.

The pair of natural jadeite bangles of a lovely full round shape, notable translucency and matching colour distribution are believed to be carved out of the same boulder and are equally stunning either worn alone or together. The suite of jadeite and diamond necklace, pair of earrings and a ring, on the other hand, are crafted from a rare collection of 17 cabochons of significant size, saturated and green colour and fine texture, each a natural treasure in itself.

The sale will also offer an impressive selection of diamonds, led by a 1.72-carat natural fancy deep orange diamond and diamond ring, one of the handful graded by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) that exceed one carat in weight. A symbol of warmth, brilliance and passion, the vibrant orange colour in diamonds is a rare gift of Nature.

Other captivating gems of colour include 24.88-carat natural colombian untreated emerald and diamond ring. Graded by the Gübelin Gem Lab as originating from Colombia, the most prestigious source of emerald, and completely free from oil treatment, this magnificent gem of enchanting colour, fine crystal structure, significant size as well as impeccable craftsmanship is an extremely rare find and would certainly make a trophy piece in any jewellery collection.

A splendid selection awaits and we look forward to welcoming you to a memorable journey of discovery at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The 1.72-carat Fancy Deep Orange Diamond

The orange colour in nature rarely fails to capture one's eye. The glow of a setting sun, the coral reefs beneath the seas and the vibrant autumn leaves all represent the gift of nature.

According to GIA laboratory reports, experts believe that the 1.72-carat fancy deep orange diamond is truly fascinating. Beyond its beautiful appearance, the orange diamond has unique optical and physical characteristics. Scientists attribute its colour to the complex result from proximity to natural radiation or strain in the lattice structure during formation. Orange-toned diamonds are not uncommon but generally they have low saturation and dark tones and have a brown appearance. In addition, coloured diamond cutting involves great risks and one can only rely on the most skilled craftsmen to release the brilliant and vibrant tones from every corner of the diamond. Thus, this 1.72-carat diamond graded as fancy deep orange in GIA's rigorous colour grading system is almost impossible to find.

The earliest known source of coloured diamonds is India. Many of the world's most legendary coloured diamonds, such as the Hope Diamond and the Dresden Green Diamond, are believed to have originated in this region. Historically, orange diamonds have been found in Brazil, India, Africa and Indonesia. The most famous was presented at Christie's jewellery auction in Geneva in 2013, where the diamond was sold for US $35.5 million, making it the most expensive orange diamond ever sold at auction.
